הרבה לפני שאכנס לפרטי הפרטים של בליל המניפולציות על מניפולציות, כדאי להתעכב על השיטה עצמה השזורה כאן - וכמה נוח לייצר מניפולציה בתודעת הציבור, תוך צביעת הצד השני כמניפולטיבי וכחלק מאיזו "מכונה" מדומיינת, שאותה המציאו ברגמן ודומיו, בדרך לניקוי הדרג הצבאי מאחריותו. הרי יש פה מכונה ומניפולציה, הרי שהיא בטלה ואינה לגיטימית. עכשיו, מן הסתם, יבוא ברגמן ויספר לכם שהוא אפילו התערב עם חבר או שניים שאני אצא להגנת יהונתן דחוח-הלוי. מישהו אמר מכונה מתואמת? הרי לשיטתו אני "הדוברת" שלו. רק שישנה בעיה קטנה; יש שועלי קרבות שמתפלשים בבוץ הפוליטי והתקשורתי, כמו ברגמן וכמוני, ויש את יהונתן. איש מחקר רציני, א-פוליטי, שאינו מלכלך את עצמו בזירה הזו, גם אם יש לא מעטים המנסים לגרור אותו אליה בכוח, לצבוע אותו בצבעים פוליטיים ולשתול בתודעה, משל הוא משתייך למכון מחקר המזוהה עם נתניהו (בולשיט גמור), שעה שברגמן עצמו כותב ומתראיין באתרים וערוצים המזוהים עם השמאל פר אקסלנס, בין אם בארץ, בין אם מחוצה לה. הסיבה לכך כמובן פשוטה למדי - יהונתן תיעד ומתעד את התקופה שקדמה למתקפת השבעה באוקטובר 2023. אני ממליצה לכל המתעניינים בנושא לעקוב אחריו בטוויטר ולקרוא את התיעוד של אותה תקופה, ובכל פוסט מצורף הקישור למקור, בניגוד לנוהגם של מרבית העיתונאים. התיעוד הנקי הזה של יהונתן, ציטוטים מלאים בשם אומרם - מאיים על מי שמפלל למפלת הימין וביתר שאת, ערב הבחירות. @jdhalevi אבל בתוך כל המלל הזה ברגמן משמיט פרט קטן ולא ממש שולי: אותו "תא"ל שנפטר", עמית סער, אללה ירחמו וה' יסלח לי, היה ראש חטיבת המחקר באמ"ן ערב הטבח. כלומר, האיש שעמד בראש הגוף שאמון באופן הישיר ביותר על גיבוש תמונת המודיעין ומתן התרעה למלחמה. התרעה אחת ברורה בלילה שבין 6 ל-7 באוקטובר הייתה יכולה לשנות את כל תמונת ההיערכות. והשאלה מה הייתה תפיסתו של סער ביחס להכלה, להסלמה ולהפתעה אינה קוריוז אקדמי משנת 2019. היא שאלה מהותית מאוד להבנת המצב התודעתי שבו פעלה המערכת ערב האסון הגדול ביותר בתולדות מדינת ישראל. ובעוד ברגמן מתרפק בנוחות על כך שהצירוף המדויק "הכלה מקסימלית" אינו מופיע בחוברת, ואף טוען שגם המשמעות שדחוח-הלוי מייחס לו אינה מצויה בה, הוא איכשהו מדלג מעל פרט פעוט: אצל סער יש פרק שכותרתו "ניהול הסלמה ומרחבי הכלה". סער עצמו כותב על "ריסון מופגן בתגובות" כדי "לייצר דינמיקה של הכלה", ובהמשך, במסגרת הדיון ביכולות ובאופן הפעלתן, על גמישות "גם על חשבון הפתעה" כדי "לייצר מרחב הכלה". כלומר, דחוח-הלוי לא המציא את מושג ההכלה יש מאין ולא שתל אותו בפיו של סער. המונח נמצא בטקסט עצמו, שוב ושוב. את המסקנה שלו מן הדברים הוא הציג בנפרד ובמפורש כמשתמע מדברי סער. אפשר להתווכח עם ההיסק, אבל אי אפשר להפוך את עצם ההכלה להמצאה של דחוח-הלוי, אשר כתובה שם שחור על גבי לבן. את הניתוח המלא של דבריו ושל התפיסה המשתקפת מהם אשאיר לפלטפורמה שמאפשרת הרחבה אמיתית. אבל עוד לפני כן כדאי להזכיר שגם ב-2022, הרבה אחרי עבודת המחקר וכאשר סער כבר מכהן כראש חטיבת המחקר, הוא אמר ביחס לעזה: "אף אחד לא רוצה מלחמה בעזה. חמאס מוכיחים את זה כל יום". כלומר, הדיון בתפיסתו איננו ניסיון לקחת עבודת גמר ישנה ולהדביק אותה בכוח ל-7 באוקטובר. יש כאן לכל הפחות רצף תפיסתי שראוי, ואף מחויב, לבחון אותו מול כשל ההתרעה. ארז תדמור אינו זקוק להגנתי, ולכן אני מניחה בצד את כל מה שברגמן כתב עליו. אבל יש עוד עובדה שראוי לזכור - סער עצמו התייחס בכמה הזדמנויות ערב השבעה באוקטובר למצב הפנימי בישראל ולמשמעויותיו הבטחוניות, שאחת מנגזרותיו הייתה גם הסרבנות. אלא שהמבט שלו הופנה בעיקר צפונה. ויהונתן דחוח-הלוי? הוא לא המציא "דוקטרינה", לא כתב תסריט ולא שתל מילים בפיו של סער. הוא הביא מתוך חוברת המחקר של סער מ-2019 את דבריו של סער, במרכאות ובשם אומרם, ועליהם הניח את פרשנותו בגלוי. בניגוד לרושם שברגמן מתאמץ ומזיע לקבע, דחוח-הלוי לא קבע מסמרות. הוא לא תמך בתיאוריות קונספירציה. נהפוך הוא. בעניין ההכלה הוא ציין שוועדת החקירה צריכה לבדוק אם תפיסה זו הייתה תקפה גם ב 7 באוקטובר 2023. ואם ברגמן החרד עד עמקי נשמתו, קורא את אותם ציטוטים, נחרד מהמסקנה וממהר להסביר לנו שהם אינם מלמדים על "הכלה" - כנראה שגם הוא מבין היטב מדוע מי שקורא אותם עשוי להגיע בדיוק למסקנה הזו. מ.ש.ל 💛

Only there's a small problem; There are battle-hardened foxes who wallow in the political and media mud, like Bergman and like me, and there's Yehonatan. A serious, apolitical researcher who doesn't dirty himself in this arena, even if there are quite a few trying to drag him into it by force, to paint him in political colors and to plant in people's minds that he belongs to a research institute identified with Netanyahu (complete bullshit), while Bergman himself writes and is interviewed on sites and channels identified with the left par excellence, whether in Israel or abroad. The reason for this is of course quite simple - Yehonatan documented and is documenting the period that preceded the October 7, 2023 attack. I recommend that anyone interested in the subject follow him on Twitter and read the documentation of that period, and every post includes a link to the source, unlike the practice of most journalists. This clean documentation by Yehonatan, full quotes attributed to those who said them - threatens those who pray for the downfall of the right, all the more so on the eve of the election. @jdhalevi But within all this verbiage Bergman omits a small and not exactly marginal detail: That "brigadier general who passed away", Amit Saar, Allah yerhamo and God forgive me, was head of the Research Division of Military Intelligence on the eve of the massacre. That is, the man who headed the body most directly entrusted with forming the intelligence picture and giving warning of war. One clear warning on the night between October 6 and 7 could have changed the entire picture of preparedness. And the question of what Saar's conception was regarding containment, escalation and surprise is not an academic curiosity from 2019. It is a very essential question for understanding the state of mind in which the system operated on the eve of the greatest disaster in the history of the State of Israel. And while Bergman comfortably clings to the fact that the exact phrase "maximum containment" doesn't appear in the booklet, and even claims that the meaning Dahoah-Halevi attributes to it isn't found in it either, he somehow skips over a tiny detail: Saar has a chapter titled "Managing escalation and spaces of containment". Saar himself writes about "demonstrative restraint in responses" in order to "create a dynamic of containment", and later, in the discussion of capabilities and how to employ them, about flexibility "even at the expense of surprise" in order to "create a space of containment". That is, Dahoah-Halevi didn't invent the concept of containment out of thin air and didn't put it in Saar's mouth. The term is in the text itself, again and again. He presented his conclusion from the words separately and explicitly as implied by Saar's words. One can argue with the inference, but one cannot turn containment itself, which is written there in black and white, into Dahoah-Halevi's invention. I'll leave the full analysis of his words and of the conception reflected in them to a platform that allows real elaboration. But even before that it's worth recalling that in 2022 too, long after the research paper and when Saar was already serving as head of the Research Division, he said regarding Gaza: "No one wants a war in Gaza. Hamas proves it every day". That is, the discussion of his conception is not an attempt to take an old thesis and forcibly stick it onto October 7. There is here at the very least a conceptual continuity that is worth, and even obligatory, examining against the warning failure. Erez Tadmor doesn't need my defense, so I'm setting aside everything Bergman wrote about him. But there's another fact worth remembering - Saar himself referred on several occasions on the eve of October 7 to the internal situation in Israel and its security implications, one of whose derivatives was also refusal to serve. Except that his gaze was directed mainly northward. And Yehonatan Dahoah-Halevi? He didn't invent a "doctrine", didn't write a script and didn't put words in Saar's mouth.
