Waiting for the President to choose who will try to form a government
Israel voted on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. The Central Elections Committee approved the final results on 4 November and handed them to President Isaac Herzog.
After consulting every party in the new Knesset, the President gives one member the task of forming a government. By law he must do so within seven days of the results' publication. That member then has 28 days, which the President can extend by up to 14 more: six weeks at most.
