Avigdor Liberman, born in Chișinău (then Soviet Moldavia) in 1958, immigrated to Israel in 1978. He was director-general of the Prime Minister's Office under Benjamin Netanyahu in 1996–97, left Likud and founded Yisrael Beiteinu in 1999, and has led it ever since. He has served as Minister of National Infrastructure, Transport, Strategic Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Defense and Finance (2021–2022), and twice as Deputy Prime Minister. Once a close Netanyahu ally, since 2019 he has refused to sit with Netanyahu and the Haredi parties, campaigning on secular-nationalist positions, Haredi conscription and a hawkish security line.
Likud activist and director-general of the PM's Office (1996–97); founded Yisrael Beiteinu in 1999 and has headed it since. Ran with the National Union alliance in 2003 and on a joint Likud–Yisrael Beiteinu list in 2013 (No. 2). Served in governments of Sharon, Olmert, Netanyahu and Bennett–Lapid; in opposition since the end of 2022.

I remind you: during the March of Return protests Eisenkot was chief of staff. 350 Palestinians were killed at the fence and 35,000 were wounded, no one got into the country.
