Broadly, I'm in favor; soul-searching is important, and one can learn and grow from it. But, trying to cram *all* the media that isn't Channel 14 into a single mold of media that was "disconnected from what's happening on the ground" is a bit automatic and not really fair. I'm not saying there wasn't a problem; there was, mainly given our reliance on the polls. But whoever did leave the 03 area code and talked to people could hear the movement back to Likud. It's true not everyone said it out loud, but they said it. With the modesty called for on this platform, I'll say that I heard that voice, more and more as we approached the elections, here on 08.10, about 20 days before the elections, and I repeated this analysis every time I was asked. Obviously I didn't know how it would roll into the current results, and I too was wrong in some of my predictions (I thought Zelekha and Hendel would pass the threshold and that Ben-Gvir would finish higher, for example), but the movement toward Likud could already be seen back then. On the other hand, I demand that you also courageously address the issue of service and civic duties, and claims of fraud, deception and harm to fair competition in the labor market. Every suspicion of an offense requires investigation and enforcement, regardless of the identity of the suspect. I also speak from personal and painful experience. I feel that my ability to make a living from my profession in Israel has been harmed, and I ask that conduct which, I claim, harms professionals and their livelihoods be thoroughly examined. It cannot be that a person who chose to immigrate to the country and build his family's future here should feel he cannot practice his profession with dignity. Mr. Prime Minister, we must wake up. It is time for a leadership that knows how to distinguish between those who contribute to the state and those who act to harm it, and that deals with wrongful acts without granting immunity to anyone. The State of Israel is the state of the Jewish people. This is not an empty slogan, but the foundation of its establishment, its existence and its future. I expect you to act with all legal tools against public officials and parties that support terror or incite to violence, including disqualifying candidacies when the grounds set by law are met. I write to you as a father of more than ten children, as someone who immigrated to Israel with his whole family about a year ago out of love for the land and faith in the future of the Jewish people. רדמן תשע סיבות לאופטימיות הבוקר: ניצחנו את הדיקטטורה, הייתה סכנה אמיתית שלא יהיו בחירות, שלא יהיה בג״צ עצמאי, אבל עצרנו את זה. ניצחנו את הבחירות, אומנם יכולנו להביא תוצאה טובה בהרבה, אבל עדיין 56% מהציבור הישראלי בחר שינוי. הקואליציה איבדה 15 מנדטים בכנסת. החברה הערבית רוצה שותפות, 19 מנדטים יצאו להצביע בשיא של כל הזמנים, מתוכם 8 הצביעו לרע״מ שהיא מפלגה שכל הצעת הערך שלה היא שותפות והשתלבות. נתניהו גמור - הוא חלש מאוד, הוא סחב את הקמפיין הזה על הגב שלו אבל בקושי (רוב הזמן ביטל לו״זים ובקושי הולך). אני מאחל לו שיבה טובה אבל פרישה מהירה מהחיים הפוליטיים אחרי השבעת הממשלה והחודשים האחרונים מעודדים אותי שאנחנו בדרך לשם ושהוא יפסיק להרעיל את החברה והפוליטיקה הישראלית בקרוב מאוד. ארגוני החברה האזרחית עשו עבודה מדהימה - הבחירות, למרות כל הניסיונות לייצר עכשיו דה-לגיטימציה מצד המפסידים, התנהלו יחסית למופת וזה 200% בזכות ועדת בחירות מרכזית רצינית וארגוני חברה אזרחית אלופים ששלחו עשרות אלפי מפקחים, משקיפים ומדווחים. למרות הגידול הדמוגרפי של המפלגות החרדיות, הן התרסקו בבחירות - 13 מנדטים בכלל. זו עדות מצוינת לזה שהגטו החרדי נשבר, כרגע הם יותר זזים לכיוון הליכוד ועוצמה יהודית, אבל זה כי לא עשינו שם עבודה. יש כאן פוטנציאל גדול לשינוי ושותפות למחנה הליברלי ועדות לכל מי שנבהל מהדמוגרפיה העתידית לזה שהכל אלסטי ובר תיקון. הכהניזם נחלש, למרות 4 שנים של הסתה אינסופית והרעלת המוחות של החברה הישראלית, כל המפלגות החרד״ליות והכהניסטיות (למעט הליכוד שגם הוא כהניסטי בחלקו) - ציונות דתית, זהות, עוצמה יהודית ונעם לישראל, קיבלו ביחד רק 13 מנדטים. זה 13 יותר מידי למפלגות שמאמינות במדינת הלכה, בתורת גזע ומצדיקות טרור, אבל זו ירידה והיא תימשך אם נמשיך בכיוון הנכון. האזרחים הישראלים בחו״ל לא ויתרו על המקום הזה, הם עשו מאמצים כבירים לבוא להצביע ואני בטוח שחלק גדול מהם יבואו שוב אם יצטרכו לבחירות נוספות (מקווה שלא יהיו אבל לא מפחד מהן). זה אומר שהם עם עיניים על המקום הזה ואני מקווה ומאמין שעוד כמה שנים שנתחיל לבנות מחדש באמת, הם יהיו הראשונים לחזור. יש כמובן גם סיבות להיות פחות אופטימיים אבל הן חלשות בהרבה - היינו צריכים להיות 72-48 להערכתי, אבל הקמפיינים היו לא מספיק טובים. הליכודניקים חזרו הביתה (לבינתיים לדעתי, ביום שאחרי נתניהו הליכוד יתפרק או יתאפס ויחזור לעצמו). כך או כך, יש הרבה יותר סיבות לאופטימיות מאשר לאכזבה. תרימו את הראש - אנחנו שלב אחד משמעותי מאוד בדרך מיציאה מדיקטטורה, זה לא ייקח רגע אבל אנחנו בנתיב הנכון - התקווה תנצח.

Despite the demographic growth of the Haredi parties, they crashed in the election - only 13 seats in total. This is excellent evidence that the Haredi ghetto has broken. Right now they are moving more toward the Likud and Otzma Yehudit, but that's because we didn't do any work there. There is great potential here for change and partnership for the liberal camp, and evidence for anyone frightened by future demographics that everything is elastic and fixable. Kahanism has weakened. Despite 4 years of endless incitement and poisoning the minds of Israeli society, all the Hardal and Kahanist parties (except the Likud, which is also partly Kahanist) - Religious Zionism, Zehut, Otzma Yehudit and Noam - together received only 13 seats. That's 13 too many for parties that believe in a halachic state, in racial doctrine and justify terror, but it's a decline and it will continue if we keep going in the right direction. Israeli citizens abroad did not give up on this place. They made enormous efforts to come and vote, and I am sure many of them will come again if they need to for another election (I hope there won't be one, but I'm not afraid of it). This means they have their eyes on this place, and I hope and believe that in a few years, when we start truly rebuilding, they will be the first to return. There are of course also reasons to be less optimistic, but they are much weaker - we should have been at 72-48 in my estimation, but the campaigns weren't good enough. The Likudniks came home (for now, in my opinion; the day after Netanyahu, the Likud will fall apart or reset and return to itself). Either way, there are many more reasons for optimism than for disappointment. Keep your heads up - we are one very significant stage along the way out of dictatorship. It won't happen in a moment, but we are on the right path - hope will win.

It's done in small rooms, slowly, without cameras. Whoever talks about it usually isn't really involved in the process. I know the human race hates uncertainty, but think how much you would hate to discover a month from now that for the sake of a headline or some leak we didn't work smart, quietly and precisely. This is the hour of the watchmakers, not of the gong-strikers. A watchmaker doesn't make noise. He sits with a magnifying glass, moves one gear, and then another. In the end the watch works.
