We continued to Bnei Brak and Ramat Gan, to Be'er Sheva, to the Hebrew University and Ariel University and to dozens more meetings around the country. We set up a chair and a microphone and said to anyone who wanted: I'm here. You don't agree with me? Excellent. Come. Ask. Attack the argument. Present another argument. Convince me. And we talked about everything. About Judaism and democracy, about security and Gaza, about economics and liberty, about religion and state, about the draft, and about Israel's identity - all those questions that Israeli politics usually prefers to reduce to hollow slogans. We didn't always agree. Quite the opposite. But we discovered again and again a simple thing that has almost been forgotten in the Western world: it's possible to disagree deeply, even very sharply, without turning the person in front of you into an enemy who must be silenced. After we set out, we saw with enormous satisfaction how similar blessed initiatives of open discourse began springing up like mushrooms after the rain in every corner. And good that it is so! The dam has burst, and the field proved that the Israeli public is not afraid of a sharp debate - it thirsts for it. Charlie Kirk understood that the great struggle of our generation is not only over one position or another. It is over the very possibility of seeking truth in a society that is increasingly losing the ability to hear truth that is uncomfortable for it. His murderer succeeded in cutting his life short at 31 - but he did not succeed in cutting off the conversation. We will keep talking, keep arguing, keep asking questions and keep giving the microphone also to those who think exactly the opposite of us. Because a bad idea is not defeated with a bullet - but only with a better idea.

Translation An extraordinary experience at my first school election panel. I sat alongside 6 party representatives and in front of hundreds of students thinking that Ra'anana is home turf. They made it clear to me that it definitely isn't. About a third of the students are religious, the majority clearly right-wing, and Ben Gvir ruuuules. Of course it was a circus. The Likud spokesman spread the recycled lie that the protest received a billion dollars from the Americans (I clarified that's fake). Then he claimed politicians should choose judges because they are the representatives of the people! (And I explained why in Israel, which lacks checks and balances, this means the government will have unlimited power and how dangerous that is no matter who is in power). The Otzma Yehudit representative wore a hangman's noose pin, explained why everyone is to blame except them, and got applause when he spoke clichés like defeating Hamas and encouraging emigration. Scary that they bought it. I decided not to try to buy anyone. I said my truth. About the freedom of every person to live as a Jew in their own way, the need for equal opportunity, and the rest of the things you already know. What's more, I was the only one who talked about what will really help young people fulfill themselves instead of being stuck with a future of thousands of reserve days: diplomatic agreements. Yes, I mentioned how peace is the only move that works in the long term, and how we will achieve it. Facing a hundred shades of right, it's important they know there's an alternative. And then came the surprise. The students voted in a computerized system for whom they connected with most. Despite the shouts of support for Likud and Otzma Yehudit, the champion Naor Shiri from Yesh Atid came first. I came second. And this is in a Ben Gvir stronghold, yes? And no less important is the aftermath. Several told me they changed their minds following the panel, and I sat with a group that praised the noose pin and claimed the death penalty is "justice." I didn't preach. I asked questions. "Should a Jew who murders innocent Arabs also get the death penalty?" And another question and another until some of them said they need to think about it again. Of course I left a few copies of "Truth or Fake" (the guide against lies that I wrote as a volunteer) and quite a few said they'd read it. The teachers were also excited. They couldn't believe so many students would connect to "left-wing" messages. One said she had tears in her eyes and chills. Another said it gave her fuel for the whole year. And the truth? Me too. In short, to those who claim "there's no one to talk to" and that young people are lost: don't give up. When you tell the truth - it works. And with young people with open minds, it also changes minds. We must not give up on any audience.
